How many times have you watched episodes of Grey’s Anatomy or ER (if you are old – Marcus Welby MD), and heard the words, “CLEAR“! It’s that part of the show where the patient is coding and the medical staff is working passionately to keep the them alive. We are glued to the television, sitting on the edge of our seats, as we wait for that flatlined meter to peak again as we listen for the words, “We’ve got them back!” Along with the doctors, we all breath a huge sigh of relief!
Spiritually speaking, there are a lot of us that are walking around void of life. We are walking in spiritual darkness and essentially we are DEAD MEN WALKING! At one time or another we have all been there. I remember vividly what that felt like. To be walking outside of the fellowship that I knew I could have with Jesus. It was miserable. It was depressing. At times it physically hurt as my heart ached for something that I longed for, but I could not find. I was LOST.
Thank God, I discovered this incredible relationship with Jesus. He FOUND me! Genesis 2:7 records the account of creation as God, the Creator, formed the first man, Adam. It says, “He breathed the breath of life into man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person.”
As I read that, I actually said out loud, “That was me!” It is exactly what Jesus did for me. Not just when He formed me and gave me physical life, but spiritually as well. I was dead. I was lifeless. I was “flatlined.” Just then, Jesus showed up, washed my sin away as I received His sacrifice for me, and He cried out, “CLEAR! You are forgiven!” He literally breathed the breath of life into MY nostrils and I became a living person! I was made alive and new again! I was given new life and a fresh start!
2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “…that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” Isn’t that what you want? If it is, run to Him today. Fall at His feet and let Him breath the breath of life into you and you will finally become a LIVING person. What are you waiting for? The Great Physician is in and His arms are open!
Take a few minutes and listen to the following song as you meditate on the sacrifice that He made for you. I love the last few words of this song. ”Lord, make me new again!” What a powerful prayer. Speak the words as you talk to your Savior!
Thank you, Jesus.
